To live Irresistibly You, sleep must be a top priority on your to-do list. It’s absolutely crucial to your health. Forget the old adage, “you snooze, you lose.” If you DON’T snooze, you lose!

Why You Need Your Beauty Rest
I tend to turn the midnight oil like many other workaholics out there. But, this is detrimental to our health and it will affect you in more ways than you realize. We think skimping on sleep is going to help us get all of our tasks done. It may. But, you are going to pay for it day after day. You can run but you can’t hide from sleep!
Your Pretty Little Brain
Lack of sleep can cause your memory to slow down and reduce reaction times. Not safe when you are driving or in need of making a big decision!

Your Precious Heart
Your heart is at risk for disease and heart attack when you don’t get enough sleep. Columbia University did a study that suggested that lack of sleep increases your risk of developing hypertension.

Your Wellbeing
Lack of sleep jacks up your hormones. This can lead to weight gain over time, depression, mood disorders, and illness.
Irresistible Tips for Becoming a Sleeping Beauty

Set a Schedule. Try to keep your daily schedule on a routine so that you are falling asleep and waking up around the same time each day.

Unwind! Take the last hour or two of the evening to actually unwind. Stop working. Stop stressing. Stop watching bad news on TV. Do something you enjoy that relaxes you.

♥ Take a Hot Shower or Bubble Bath! I love the feeling of a hot bubble bath and wrapping up in my plush robe right before bed. Light some candles, get some irresistible aromatherapy bubble bath, and soak away! Start with a bottle of Lollia in Love Bubble Bath, one of Oprah’s favorite things!

Love Yourself with Lavender. Lavender is a natural sleep aid and remedy for anxiety. Look for body washes, lotion, and even lavender oils to use before bedtime. Spritz some lavender on your pillow and sheets to help catch those z’s!

From Prevention Magazine, “Research shows that the scent of lavender eases anxiety and insomnia. In one study done at Britain’s University of Southampton, researchers tracked the sleep patterns of 10 adults. For a week, half of the participants slept in a room where lavender essential oil was diffused in the air throughout the night; the rest snoozed in a similar room where a placebo–sweet almond oil–was released. After a week, the groups switched rooms. At the end of the study, the volunteers ranked the quality of their sleep 20% better on average when in the lavender-scented room.”

Make a To-Do List. You are human. You can’t do it all in one day. Take out a notebook and pen to write down your to-do list for tomorrow. It purges the clutter from your brain and allows you to relax. I do this every single day and I’ve done it for years!

Get Ready. For bed that is! Falling asleep in makeup is just horrible for your skin. Get into a routine just like you do in the morning. Wash your face, moisturize, put lotion on, brush your teeth, etc. Nothing feels better than a clean face. Sleep is also about repairing your body. It’s a great time to get those eye serums and magic creams on! They have time to seep into your pores and do work!

Stay Away from Trigger Foods. Caffeine including coffee and sodas can keep us up past our regularly scheduled bed time. When it’s time to start unwinding, kick these items to the curb.

Feng Shui. Make your bedroom a relaxation haven! Don’t bring work, laptops, stress, etc into this room. It should be the one place in the world where there are no outside stresses and you can truly relax. Decorate your bedroom in colors that soothe you. Also, invest in a good mattress!
