Hello Gorgeous! Geesh, it’s been a long time since I’ve sat at this desk and started typing a new blog post. My oh my, how life has changed since the last time I wrote a blog post. As you know, I was pregnant with my first child. My due date was November 2nd, but my body and my little girl decided that was entirely too long to wait. I went in for my 38 week checkup on October 20th and I was admitted to L&D. I gave birth to my irresistible baby, Catalina Rose on October 21st, 2016. This incredibly raw photo was taken just minutes after she was born. I can’t even begin to put into words how incredible that moment was.
My life over the last 6 weeks has been a sweet mix of bliss, frustration, sleep deprivation, and happiness. She is the greatest blessing in my life but having a baby is one of the biggest changes a woman can go through. I’ve needed this time to take a break from everything but her and our new life. I stepped away from blogging and my work so I could heal and adjust to life with my beautiful girl. Things are slowly falling into a routine (Yay!) and I crave my creative outlet that is blogging. I’m ready to come back and share all of the thoughts and stories with you that I’m aching to get out of my head.
Wait, Are You a Mom Blogger Now?
Ever since I announced my pregnancy, all of my blogging friends were asking me if I was going to become a mom blogger. My first reaction was “Hell No!” When I hear that term, I cringe. It makes me think of a blog that is all about baby products, parenting advice, and annoying stories about other people’s kids. I have NO desire to blog solely about those things.
I love my daughter. I love being her mom. She is now a huge part of my story. Naturally, that is going to effect the lens in which I see the world.
So what the heck is a mom blogger anyways? I see a lot of bloggers lumped into this broad category simply because they have kids and they blog. If being a blogger and a mom makes me a “mom blogger” then I guess I am. Whatever.
That doesn’t mean Irresistible Icing is turning into a “mom blog.” No, no, no!
But will my blog change now that I’m a mom? Yes and No.
Irresistible Icing is about inspiring other women to create an irresistible life with a focus on weight loss, body image, and personal development. Going through a pregnancy has totally transformed my views on body image. I struggled with weight and body image way before I was pregnant and I will continue to struggle as a new mom and a woman, period.
Becoming a mom to a daughter has given me even more inspiration and purpose to get my story and message out to other women.THAT is the part of becoming a mom that I want to incorporate into this blog.
I may post the occasional photo of Catalina here or on my social media. Since becoming a mom, I’m fiercely protective of how much of her I share online. I still have to figure out how to navigate how much is too much and what I’m comfortable sharing. Unlike Chuy, she’ll grow up and be able to read my blogs and will have a say in what she wants posted or not.
Coming Up!
I would love to debut my new blogging schedule on my “welcome back” blog post. The truth is that right now, I can’t commit to anything. Yet. I’m only 6 weeks postpartum and still navigating this new life with a baby and my post-pregnancy body. I go back to work next month so for right now, I’m trying to enjoy maternity leave and the holidays with my family without any added pressures.
On that note, I look forward to what the future holds for this little blog of mine. Wishing you an irresistible holiday season in the meantime!
