I have five guiding principles of creating an irresistible life. One of those is to “be in the moment.” It’s important that we are mindful and present because if not, life flies by and we find ourselves going “Where did the year go?” It’s also something that I found was a recurring theme for women that struggle with poor body image and emotional eating. We waste so much time wishing the days away because we don’t have the “perfect” body. That is NOT living and it’s certainly not living irresistibly. Being in the moment is hard. It’s especially hard when we are all living busy lives.
I’m a busy work at home mom. I work a full time job as the Director of Community Education for BlogPaws, run two blogs of my own in addition to taking care of my daughter, Catalina and my Chihuahua, Chuy. My time is precious! I cannot stand spending any of my precious free time running errands and doing necessary tasks like cooking and cleaning. Those things still have happen in order for all of us to stay alive so I like to find ways to make it easier.
In this post, I’m going to share some of my busy working mom time saving hacks with you!
1. Walmart Grocery Pickup
The one chore that I’ve always detested more than anything is grocery shopping. I can’t stand fighting the rude crowds of people that give you the stank face if you dare to accidentally get in the way of them stocking up on frozen TV dinners. Then there’s the putting food in your cart, unloading it at the register, loading it back into the cart, unloading it in the car, and finally taking everything into the house and putting it all away. I remember when I used to dream for a grocery delivery or pickup service. Then Walmart made my dreams come true!
Walmart Grocery Pickup is saving me at least a few hours (& my sanity) a week. I don’t know how I ever lived without grocery pickup before!
I can literally order groceries from my bed in 5 minutes, half asleep, with my daughter and Chuy right next to me. If you haven’t tried grocery pickup, I highly recommend it! If you sign up using my referral link, you’ll get $10 off your first order. #Winning
Sorry Foodies But I Use Paper Plates
If grocery shopping is my least favorite chore that would make cooking number two and dishes a close third. Oh the irony because eating is probably my favorite hobby! I blog about emotional eating and body image . . . I’m not a food blogger! I couldn’t care less what my food looks like once it’s on my plate. Paper plates might be bad for the environment but they save me SO much time. No dishes. No messes. Everything goes right in the trash can.
Amazon Prime & Amazon Family
Amazon Prime is a life saver for ordering just about everything that we need. The best part of my Prime membership is obviously the free two day shipping. I’d much rather order online and have it magically show up on my front porch. Head over to my pet blog, Irresistible Pets to learn about the other secret benefits of Prime like free videos, music, and more! It’s only $99/ year but if you’re on the fence I highly recommend you try the Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial to see if you like it.
Since I have Amazon Prime, I get Amazon Family with my membership. Amazon Family allows me to save 20% on diaper subscriptions which get shipped automatically every month. They are SO much cheaper than the retail stores. They also offer exclusive coupons and deals.

Trello Lists To Organize My Brain
I’ve always been a list person. If it’s not written down in one of my lists, it doesn’t happen. I still love a good old fashioned notebook but my favorite app in the entire world has to be Trello. I use Trello to keep everything organized for my blogs, my job, and my personal life. Think of it as digital post it notes that you can move around, check off, and comment on. Trello is free and is available online and as a mobile app on the go. That way when I’m out and about with Catalina and Chuy, I can quickly add my thoughts to Trello and go back later when I have alone time to follow up.
Sunday Prep Day
Yea Sundays are for Fundays but they are also the day where I spend a little bit of time prepping for the week ahead. If I don’t do this, my entire week gets thrown off. I like to take an hour or two on Sunday to clean up the house, do laundry, make sure groceries are ordered, and start my to-do lists for the work week. I also look at the upcoming week and our schedules to make sure everything is prepped. Sure, last minute things are going to pop up because well, life. But, this at least helps to keep things as sane as possible.

Have a Signature Go To Makeup Look
I have two different makeup looks:
- The no-makeup makeup look
- Full on glam
Usually during the work week since I work from home, I go for the no-makeup makeup look. I can do this in about 10 minutes and I leave the bathroom looking less like a walker from The Walking Dead and more like myself. The best part about this look is that if I need to go out or have an event, I can “add on” to do my full glam face. I basically just focus on primer, BB cream, powder, blush, bronzer, lip gloss, brows, and lashes. Makeup makes me look better but it also makes me feel better.
To keep things simple in terms of fashion have yourself a go to “uniform” that looks pulled together but is easy to wear. For me, I love a pair of skinny jeans, a simple black top, and flats. Throw on a statement necklace, a pair of heels, and you’re ready for anything.
These are just a few of the ways I save time as a busy working mom. What are your time saving secrets? Let me know in the comments!

I am just now trying to figure out this balancing act, so I’m going to comb through all your posts and see what I can glean! These are all awesome tips (although my hippie heart can’t do the paper plate thing… lol!), and I’m going to sign up for the grocery thing the second I finish this comment!!! You are an inspiration!
Aww, thanks Maggie. That means so much as you are someone I greatly admire. You will get the hang of it in no time! Each season/phase of motherhood brings a new challenge but one that’s well worth it 🙂 Seriously thought Walmart grocery pickup is amazing!!!!
Great tips! I finally picked up a planner (from the suggestion of a BlogPaws member) to help organize myself. I’m a visual person so I need to see the month laid out. It’s helped keep everything in my brain organized, lol.
Planners are a great way to get organized! I love writing stuff down on my paper planner and then scheduling it into Google Calendar and CoSchedule!
