Welcome to Friend Friday, hosted by Modly Chic. This week we are blogging about fashion and fitness.
1. Do you keep some kind of fitness routine? Why?
The short, honest answer is that I try. I am inconsistent. Especially lately. I hate that about myself. I do really well for awhile and then somehow I fall of track. A good chunk of Irresistible Icing is about that very topic. I was kicking ass in preparation of my wedding last Fall. I lost almost 50 lbs on Weight Watchers and then fell off the wagon. Life got crazy, I ate. Ate some more. Stopped working out. FAIL.
However, when I am in routine, these are some of the things I like to do:
♥ 30 Day Shred
♥ Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30
♥ Bellydance Fitness for Beginners – Arms, Abs, Hips, Buns & Thighs
I also love a good Kick Boxing workout or a long walk around the neighborhood or boardwalk.
I love to mix it up because I get all A.D.D. with the workout stuff. I am desperately trying to get back into the groove.
I’ve been thinking of blogging about my weigh ins again at Weight Watchers. Should I? Would you get anything out of it?
2. Has working out, maybe training for a marathon or something of that nature, helped with your own perception of body image?
I’ve never trained for a marathon. I’ve honestly never had any desire to. Is that bad? Nothing excites me about running . . . Especially for long distances.
However, it always does help to have something to look forward to with a workout routine. Such as a vacation, wedding, new clothes, etc.
3. When you are hitting the gym or just going out for a long walk what do you wear? Is it about functionality or fashion?
Come on now! This is Irresistible Icing….of course, it’s about BOTH! Myself and this blog is all about being the most irresistible version of yourself.
You need to be functional but you can’t look like trash either. Of course, working out makes you sweaty and gross. BUT, that doesn’t mean you can’t look half way decent doing it.
I usually wear yoga pants, a sports bra, a fitted tank (that’s long), and a cute sweat shirt. I always wear a stomach wrap too to help burn more calories and inches! I’ve been meaning to do a workout wear fashion post for awhile. Stay tuned!
4. Do you feel there is a cultural perception of what you ‘should’ be doing for your own physical fitness?
I think that the cultural perception ties into what society “thinks” we should look like. However, a size 2 or even a size 6 is not me. It’s not ever going to be me. Physical fitness is a necessity for good health.
As hard as you might try, you will never be something you’re not. Accept your body type as is and do things that work for YOU, not for somebody else.
However, healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes. For me, it means more muscles, curves, and thickness. For you, it might mean something else. Find what is best for YOUR body and just do it. Like Nike 🙂
5. Dream big… what would be your ultimate fitness goal?
I’ve been trying to get there my whole life. To get all this extra weight off of me and FINALLY be at goal. I’ve hit a huge bump in the road but I know I’m capable of it. I just need some extra motivation.
After typing this post, I think I’ve answered my question above about Weight Watchers blogging. I’m still curious to know your thoughts.
What’s your big fitness goal? Leave a comment below and let me know.
