Diet is a dirty four letter word.
Diet’s don’t work.
Diet’s are meant to fail.
Diet’s are meant to make you feel like a failure.
Diet’s are meant to torture you.
Diet’s are meant to make you feel less than human.
Diet’s are not a way of life.
Diet’s aren’t REAL!
Diet’s are fuc*ing stupid.
There is no such thing as a diet. It is a temporary state of being.
You can’t live forever on lettuce, grilled chicken, and protein smoothies. You just won’t. And you won’t be a very happy person to be around.
I have news for any of you that are currently on a diet, you will eventually gain all your weight back (and maybe more), return to your old habits, and then be searching for the next big ‘fad’ diet to “fix” yourself.
Diet’s teach you nothing about yourself or what makes you do the fuck*ed things you do. Ok, maybe they teach you that you really have no willpower after all. That you are still addicted to ice-cream. That you will always love to eat. And guess what? All of that is ok!
Diet’s are useless. Life goes on. You have to eat every single day, multiple times a day, for the rest of your life. There will be birthdays, celebrations, graduations, weddings, holidays, vacations, promotions, breakups, heartbreaks, and even funerals. ALL of these are celebrated and mourned with food whether you like it or not. It’s just the human way. You can try and fight it but you will fail as long as you are dieting. I guarantee you this: If you don’t change your mindset and you keep “dieting”, you will gain weight each and every single time.
I know, I am the bearer of bad news, Negative Nelly, Debbie Downer, and you want to slap me right about now. That’s ok. It means I’m hitting a nerve. A nerve that is your reality and it hurts. It means this is real and it’s time to face the music.
It’s not your body you have to change. It’s not fitting into the latest skinny jeans that is going to make you whole. As cliché as it sounds, you have to start working on you from the inside first. Trust me, the rest will follow.
You have to change your mindset. You have to change how you think about food, how you interact with food, how you live with food, how you work with food, how you obsess every single second of every single day worrying about your body, about food, and about what someone else thinks about you.
If you concentrate on what made you eat and gain weight in the first place, you can gain closure, and you will be able to re-learn how to eat, so that you can lose the weight and meet your physical goals once and for all.
Throw the diet’s away. Focus on YOU. Forget what everyone else thinks and says. They don’t matter anyways. Stop saying tomorrow and start doing today!
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
