The recent shift from winter to spring has me thinking quite a bit about change. How change impacts our mindset when it comes to our journey with weight loss, emotional eating, and body image. How many times have you told yourself that you’ll start your weight loss journey after the holidays or after some big event you have coming up?
How many times have you noticed that it’s rare to have a period of time with no major events or holidays?
That’s life for ya.
We are constantly bombarded with holidays, events, celebrations, and even tragedies. There’s never really a perfect time to get started.
Plus, once you do get started what is going to happen when there’s a major change thrown at you? Will you throw in the towel? Or will you learn to adapt your lifestyle to the changes of life?
The only constant is change.
This also applies to body image and how we see ourselves.
“I’m not going to go to the event and wear that dress until I lose 50 lbs.” And so then what, you’re going to skip the event an all the fun you could have had?
“I’m not going to wear a bathing suit this summer because I’m too fat.” So, then you’re going to sit indoors in the house for 4 months feeling miserable while everyone else is out doing things?

I know exactly how this feels because I wasted so much time letting my weight dictate my life. You can continue living while working on weight loss or learning to love your body.
