Did you know your brain doesn't know the differenc

Did you know your brain doesn't know the difference between a paper tiger and a real tiger 🐯?

Meaning, your brain reacts in the same fight or flight mode whether it's a life threatening situation OR you feel backed in a corner with all the stress of your life.

Our "flighting" skills have become overeating, denial, and avoidance. When we go into "fight" mode, we think we have to go 0 to 100 in order to make the changes necessary to get away from our sabre tooth tiger.

So, how do we fix this?

First, you have to differentiate the paper tigers from the real tigers.

Then, it's all about managing your emotions and learning how to redirect the way you think, feel, and act in response to your tigers. Listen to episode 183 for more!

What comes to mind when you think about putting yourself first?

For a lot of women they think about 2 things.

1. It's selfish.
2. It's glamourous.

Well, none of those 2 things are true.

Putting yourself first is not always glamorous or even easy to do. You think it should be easy. You think it should feel effortless.

But, putting yourself first means sacrificing your "wet blanket" of uncomfortable comfort for your future self.

It's telling yourself "not right now" when it comes to overeating.

It means working up a sweat when it's more comfortable to lay on the couch.

Those sacrifices and moments of "pain" will bring a lifetime of ease and comfort that you don't have right now.

In this week's podcast episode, I talked all about how putting yourself first is absolutely necessary and why it's not always easy or glamorous.

Losing weight doesn't take anymore time than it does to stay under your wet blanket and eat cupcakes in the bathtub. It's not about enough time. It comes down to not wanting to make different decisions. Weight loss isn't about time. It's about decisions.

BUT!!!!

Sometimes when we're in survival mode we don't have the mental capacity to even think about making different decisions. So, we revert back to the uncomfortable comfort. That's still a decision. You gotta be good with you and any decisions you make.
