Happy New Year! As we slide into the new year, it’s time to set goals beyond “lose weight.” That’s not permanent. It’s not going to change how you actually feel and see your body.  I know this because I’ve spent my entire life losing and gaining weight with every single diet you can think of. I finally reached my breaking point and discovered the secret to looking and feeling irresistible is not just about losing weight. It’s about finding a balance between your mind, body, and soul. That’s how I came up with my five guiding principles of an irresistible life. I want you to consider putting these into practice this year instead of setting unrealistic new years resolutions.

In this post, I’m going to share with you five ways to make the new year irresistible.

5 Ways To Make the New Year Irresistible (1)

1. Break the Rules

What “rules” or negative thoughts have you been telling yourself? Whether you currently realize it or not, we all have rules we’ve created from our experiences. Sometimes these rules have been created by our society. These rules are deeply embedded into our thoughts and control our actions. It’s up to you to change the negative rules into something positive.

For years I used to tell myself that I didn’t deserve to be happy until I had the “perfect” body. This stopped me from enjoying certain things in my life because I was so unhappy with how I looked physically. It stopped me from standing up for myself and asking for what I want. Now is the time to do an audit and figure out what rules you are telling yourself.

2. Make Confidence Queen

To start living life with your new rules, you need to make confidence queen. Confidence is the most irresistible thing a woman can wear and it must reign over everything you do. It’s not something that you always have once you find it. You can be on top of the world today and tomorrow you can feel totally deflated. It’s a muscle that you have to work on daily.   What are some things that make you feel confident? How can you incorporate more of that into your daily routine? I love wearing makeup because it makes me feel put together which gives me confidence.  I make sure to create time to incorporate this into my schedule.

3. Feed Your Soul

I’ve lost and gained weight more times than I can count. All those times I went on a “diet”, I was only focused on the weight loss. When your soul is starving, you turn to food for comfort…thinking that it’s physical hunger. Not feeding your soul leads to binge eating and emotional eating. To keep it simple, feeding your soul basically means taking time to do the things in your life that fill you up with joy and happiness. For me that’s kayaking, being by the beach, walking Chuy, or playing with my daughter, Catalina.

4.Be in the Moment

Do you ever feel like you’re watching your life but not living it? Be in the moment and don’t wait for the weight. I wasted a lot of time in my life waiting until I had the “perfect body” in order to really live. I would put things on hold and punish myself for not having the body I desired…or the one that society told me I had to have. Take it from me, that makes the journey miserable! Take a minute to read this post about how kayaking helped me be in the moment.

Stop waiting to live life when you have the -perfect- body. An irresistible life is not a -reward- for losing weight. (1)

5. Get Your Glam On

When you’ve busted through the rules holding you back and you’re working on your confidence, you’ll naturally have the desire to take pride in your appearance. I call this get your glam on as the 5th guiding principle of an irresistible life. When you take care of yourself, you look better. When you look better, you feel better! This is all about taking time for YOU. It’s  not about being a super model or fitting into a mold of a certain look or body type. NO! This is about working with what you got.
