I’ve been talking a lot about knowing when you’re ready to change your life because I have come to a crossroads in my life. I made the decision to move on from my full-time job as the Director of Education for BlogPaws so that I can pursue my business here full-time. My dream, passion, and purpose has always been to create my own personal development business to help women navigate through their issues with body image and emotional eating. I’ve done some of that work already over the years but now it will have my undivided attention. I feel empowered to close this chapter of my life with BlogPaws so that I can empower and motivate others to create the life they crave and deserve.

In case you don’t follow me on Instagram (and you really should!), I wrote all about that here.

All of this talk about change and making big changes in my own life prompted the purpose behind this post. I feel like in life we come to a crossroads about every 7-8 years. My last one is what inspired this blog back in 2010 when I quit my job of 7 years to pursue running my own online business from home. It’s also around the same time that I started to discover what it means to create a irresistible life. Something I talk about a lot is breaking the rules. Change is about breaking the rules written by society so that you can be who you’re intended to be.

5 Signs You're Ready to Change Your Life

So, how do you know when you’re ready to change your life?

I’ve put together what I feel are the top 5 signs you’re ready to change your life. These could be applied to starting a new career, deciding to go on a weight loss journey, deciding to stop living a life where you hate your body, or wanting to create the life you crave.

1. Your Values Aren’t Aligned

It’s time to do a calibration of your values against where you are in life. Do they align with the job you have? Do they align with your lifestyle? Are they aligned with the type of people you hang out with? If not, it’s time to figure out why. I’m a Leo and a #8 on the Enneagram so staying loyal to my core values is something that is just part of my DNA. I have always been known to stand up for what I believe in and not compromise who I am  for anyone or anything. THAT in itself is a big part of what I believe in and is a guiding compass in my decisions.

Make a list of what your core values are – the things that are non-negotiable to you and your life. Here is a list of over 500 core values that will spark inspiration!

For example, some of mine are:

  • Autonomy
  • Loyalty
  • Honesty
  • Integrity
  • Independence
  • Empowerment
  • Protection
  • Control (over my life)
  • Assertiveness
  • Competency

2. You Have a Craving

No, I’m not talking about sugary buttercream icing. Although, if your eating more cupcakes than you can count, something is off and I talk more about that in #5. When you’re ready for a change, there’s a craving that you just can’t put your finger on…yet. It’s a craving for a different life. A different and improved version of you. A change in scenery be it geographical or with the people around you. If you constantly feel this craving tugging at you, then it’s time to do something about it. To figure out what exactly you’re craving, you need to spend some time away from the noise, away from people, and just be.

3. You Feel Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired

This one is especially true when you’re ready to make a physical change to your body. If you’re tired of the weight and waking up with a food hangover from binging, you’re literally sick and tired of being sick and tired. This also applies to other areas of our lives where people or jobs have drained all of our mental real-estate. When you are emotionally drained you will feel it physically. You won’t be as creative or quick to think of solutions. Our mental health is just as important (if not more) as our physical health. You can’t have a cluttered and overwhelmed mind and be the best version of you.

4. What You See in the Mirror Doesn’t Match What’s in Your Head

When you think about yourself and the life you live it looks one way in your head. When you look in the mirror what you see is not aligned with who you want to become. Be it physically or mentally. What is the gap between who you are right now and who you would like to become? What does it take to get there? What do you need to work on or change to become her? For me, I’ve always dreamed of being in charge of my own life and not having my life dictated by someone else. Remember that control, autonomy, and independence are some of my core values! When I quit my job in 2010, I made a conscious decision that I was going to create the life I deserved. This was not just about my career. I didn’t feel I was physically showing up in the world the way that I wanted to either. I also focused on losing weight, living an active lifestyle, getting a new makeup routine, changing my style, and most importantly getting my mind in shape. This is the process of how I came up with my 5 guiding principles of an irresistible life.

5. You Cannot Stop Binge Eating

There’s a variety of reasons why we emotionally binge eat. I can tell you from experience that there’s always a driving force behind it and it’s not about the food. It’s about the emotions we are trying to avoid. If you constantly find yourself emotionally eating, take some time to figure out what might be causing you to do that. What is it that you’re escaping from or trying to avoid?

Do any of these ring a bell for you? Change is freaking hard. You may not even know where to begin because it all feels so overwhelming right now. Change isn’t easy but it’s possible and I’m living proof of that. I want you to live the life your crave and deserve. It’s not some far fetched thing that only happens to other people. It happens when you make the decision and get intentional about your choices.

So, what is the next step if you’re ready to change your life? You’re in luck because I’ve made it really simple for you. I have a free downloadable PDF workbook that will give you a jump-start to create the life you crave. The workbook follows my 5 guiding principles which takes you step-by-step through the exact process I followed. You can print out the workbook or you can download it right to your mobile or tablet to use on the go!
