Trashing the Eggroll and Trading Bowls

in Weight Loss Journey, Weight Watchers

At least every two weeks my husband and I order Chinese food, when we just don’t feel like leaving the house or cooking a damn thing. Well, last night was one of those times. It was raining, we were exhausted…you get the picture.

I always get the same thing. Shrimp Egg Foo Yung and White Rice. It’s actually quite Weight Watchers friendly, as long as you don’t eat the full serving. Or, the gravy. Luckily, for me, I HATE the gravy and end up throwing it out.

In this journey to change my habits and my mindset about food, I’m learning a lot. Part of that is slowing down to actually think about what the hell I’m doing. So much of the crazy sh&* we do with food is like second nature. Seriously, try me. See what weird habits you do at the next meal.

Ok, so here’s the deal. My husband’s combo always comes with an eggroll (mine doesn’t). He hates them. I always eat his eggroll with my egg foo yung. Truthfully, it tastes like garbage. I don’t even know why the hell I eat it. It’s one of those things I guess I’ve just been doing by force of habit? I have no freakin’ idea.

Well, last night, as soon as I pulled it out of the bag, I crumbled it up and threw it in the trash. Take that you stupid eggroll!!!!!

Yea, that’s a pretty big deal for me. It might seem small but these little victories are huge in this journey!!

Another thing I tried last night was to NOT use my favorite bowl. I have this ginormous, clear, glass bowl that I use when ever I eat Chinese food. Last night I decided to use one of my smaller bowls and to only measure out a half cup of rice instead of a full cup. It actually felt like I had more than enough in my bowl and I couldn’t even finish it all! This is just one big mind game, people!

I’m taking these two things as wins! You should too if you did something similar this weekend. We waste too much time beating ourselves up over everything we did wrong and not enough time over all the things we did right. So, slow down, pay attention, and start celebrating!

Hey this is really awesome!! And that is a BIG deal to toss the egg roll. I know how tough that is. I love eggrolls but it depends on who is making them. I can’t tell you how many countless times I’ve eaten an eggroll I didn’t even like all that much and thought WHY? I will say that awhile back I stopped eating the rice altogether. I don’t even miss it at all now. That was my small victory with chinese food!! Love this post!
